Founded in 2001 by Nathaniel Kunkel, Studio Without Walls began by solving a problem the industry hadn't addressed: artists and creators needed custom production facilities that didn't fit the traditional studio model. That work led to facilities for some of the most recognized names in music — and to a broader practice that now spans recording studios, home and commercial theaters, and full systems integration.

Nathaniel brings a rare combination of creative and technical expertise to every project. As a multiple Grammy and Emmy Award-winning producer and mixer with over thirty-five years in the industry, he understands what professional environments need to perform at the highest level — not from the outside, but as someone who has worked in them. That perspective informs every design decision, from acoustics to control systems to workflow. His additional background includes senior-level work at Dolby Laboratories, where he helped shape the industry's adoption of immersive audio technology.
