Founded in 2001 by Nathaniel Kunkel, Studio Without Walls began by solving a problem the industry hadn't addressed: artists and creators needed custom production facilities that didn't fit the traditional studio model. That work led to facilities for some of the most recognized names in music — and to a broader practice that now spans recording studios, home and commercial theaters, and full systems integration.
Nathaniel brings a rare combination of creative and technical expertise to every project. As a multiple Grammy and Emmy Award-winning producer and mixer with over forty years in the industry, he understands what professional environments need to perform at the highest level — not from the outside, but as someone who has worked in them. That perspective informs every design decision, from acoustics to control systems to workflow. His additional background includes being an integral member of the Dolby Atmos Music launch team at Dolby Laboratories, where he helped shape the industry's adoption of immersive audio technology.
